Water collection hijinx, indeed! I’m glad you didn’t fall into the canal – in your pj’s no less!
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who has to make multiple attempts at experiments involving naval engineering such as floating bottles and the like.
and did you go out for gelatto in your pj’s, too?! With your big bottle of canal water?
Been thoroughly enjoying this whole adventure…safe travels back to LA and can’t wait to see more of your journal. and what happens to the canal water…
Connie Rose says
So how the heck will you get that bottle of water back on a plane and home??? Last time I traveled — admittedly 5 years ago — you couldn’t take bottles of water with you, they had to be empty. Good luck!
Susie LaFond says
Now that is something I would do in a heartbeat!!!! It is not only necessary, it is essential to the experience. A certain amount of hijinx is to be expected. I’m feeling a tiny, wee bit of sadness that it is your last day in Venice. It’s been a beautiful and heartily enjoyable journey and opens the door for the fun stateside to begin. I’m still working on my journal construction so I’ve spent my time savoring each post and video along with all the wonderful banter on the group. Kind of like gelato for the heart and soul.

connie i tape it up – will photograph when i get home and put it in my checked bag NOT carry on. works every time!

oh my gawd, you and your wicked little vixen laugh! LOVE IT!

And all this time, I have wondered “How in the world will Mary Ann get the water from the canals when they are so far down from the sidewalks?” I envisioned you on a gondola ride with your arm casually swooping down in the water with a tiny bottle in hand. Then again, I don’t even know if one could touch the water from the gondolas. You are very clever and I did have faith that you would come away with the l’acqua from Venezia! And pistachio gelato!!! YUM, it’s my favorite!!!
Happy New Year and welcome home!

Such Fun! I have really loved being a part of your travels. I SO, SO, SO, SO wish I could have gone shopping in those book/paper stores too!!!! I live in the suburbs of Chicago and I can’t find ANYTHING cool out here. I can’t wait to see what else you show when you get home. Fly safely and Happy New Year!!

I bet you earned a girl scout badge for mastering collection of water samples. Perhaps an ultra-long Slurpee straw should become part of your journal supplies. NO, you don’t suck up the water, just put the straw in and hold your finger on the top. Maybe bring several, which you can tape together;) Can’t believe you are leaving already, for some reason I thought you were spending two weeks. So sad.

I am also looking forward to seeing what happens to the canal water! What a fun adventure!

Welcome Home Mary Ann. I’m sure Moss Cottage and her inhabitants have missed you greatly even if you did have a sub. It’s New Year’s Eve here now – a brand new year awaits. Here’s a lovely quote regarding the New Year – especially written for those who journal I’m sure. :o) “We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”

May 2013 be kind to you Mary Ann. Can’t wait for your next post. xoDonna

I especially buy pj knits that look like outer clothing so I never get caught with my pj’s on 😉 – and your pj top looks like outer clothing so not to worry. Anyway, it was your last day and on last days, peeps do crazy things, like attempting to fish in the canal with floaty bottles or mugs – Can you imagine all those eyes peeping out from behind the curtains above, and what they were thinking?
Looking forward to the next videos from LA.

Bwahahahahah, you nut… grin. Don’t drink it by mistake. Bwahahahahahah…. So you are the reason that the canal is getting lower. Now we know. You brighten my day Mary Ann. You and your lovely silly things to try out. I thought I was the only nut, but nope, there’s two. At least. Still grinning. BTW, your cup method: that was how I used to catch frogs when I was a kid. Tossed the bucket in the pond, way behind a frog, and then slowly slowly pull it towards me and frog got scooped up without knowing what hit it.
You rock woman!
Anna Maria says
And what are you doing with that water. Hope you remembered to mark the bottle, so you don’t drink it by accident!!

Just watched this video, what a hoot, if this was the FIRST video, your new students might wonder what they had gotten themselves in for! You are a riot, that maniacal giggle and grin!
