Loving how the journal is coming along. Thanks for letting us watch you do your thing. 🙂

Wow! I am really there with you in Venice! Floating around the canals, seeing what you see, peeking over your shoulder while you work and play. I haven’t even started my Journal but even now I love this class, and all who’re in it!

Oh how I could watch you work in your journal all day long. Pure delight! It makes me want to plan a trip just so I can journal…………….PS I have a love for adhering paper upon paper too!

You are a woman after my soul!! I adore the way you embrace the imperfections that occur in life – the way you invite them in to join the party. So genuine and free – you are a treasure!!

I am happy to see I am not the only person who finds tearing/pasting/glueing/papers so relaxing and fun. I just did the same every night while in Istanbul and Venice. I made loads of collages to mail off but now I find I really want to keep them. Very fun to see you in action, Mary Ann. Have a cappuccino and think of me!
Jan McCann says
I just realised if I turn my iPad round on a flat surface I can watch you journalling the right way up! It’s looking great so far!
Linda Niehoff says
I love how fearless you are. There you are with your brand new treasures, cutting and pasting! My tendency is to save new things up and not want to “ruin” them. But then they just collect dust and aren’t enjoyed anyway. Love how you just dive right in. Thanks for letting us watch you work!

It is fabulous to be inspired to be so free with the journal. I am like Linda I save things. This is exactly what I wanted to learn from this class. Thank you xx M

Hi again! Still got email probs so trying to reply via your blog -sorry!
We set off to go to Murano this morning but the service was suspended due to fog. Instead went to San Zaccaria to see the Bellini altarpiece (and inadvertently the body of the said Zaccaria (father of John the Baptist) sitting , or rather lying a little gold framed glass coffin). Went to the Scuola Dalmata and then to lunch. The 4.1 was running again so went from San Marco (San Zaccaria) to Murano without changing – cool! We got chatting to a friendly family from Texas and they were headed for the glass museum also, so that was fun. If you want to go to Murano you can use the new no 3 which stops only at P Roma, the station and Murano.
You MUST go to Florian’s – it is amazing, expensive (probably not much more than Lavena) but still amazing. We made it to the costume museum – did you go there yet? There is a display of red carpet dresses from various Venice film festivals so not many eighteenth century costumes on display – but worth seeing anyway.
My journal is filling up nicely – thanks to your encouraging videos.
Best wishes Pat
Ps yes will email you a photo when we get one together!

Oh! She posted a new video!
clickety clack…
contented *sigh*
You make me wanna go bolt myself in my art room and take no visitors. Ya know, since I can’t jet off to Venice just now.

I am so relieved also to see I am not the only one keeping pieces of scraps to the last because I am afraid to ruin them or that I might want to use them later on something else. Love watching you work so freely and just ripping and cutting. I still haven’t figured out how to use the paper glue strips properly – but I will. I am having fun. Thank you.

MAM,
I am loving the videos! Your journal is beautiful! I so loved the store, all of the paper and the great music playing in the background.
I would spend a fortune as well!!
Gwen Delmore says
So enjoy watching you work in your journal!
Jill says
I love watching you journal! I’m currently surrounded by paper scraps of all shapes and sizes. I can’t seem to get rid of even the smallest bits.
re: the ink bottle You’ll dump the ink then take the bottle home, right?? Maybe use it for something you gathered in Venice then do a cool wax seal when you get home?
Marilyn says
watching you work and create in your journal is more precious than all the books I bought on collage, art journalling. How I wished I had not recycled all those postcards, scraps…that I now discover is epehemera and not ‘junk’as my minimalist husband calls all accumulation.
Linda says
I love the thoughtful process you go through in placing the pieces to your journal. So cool.
I’m wondering where your sheet of labels of interesting shapes and colors came from. Did you bring those along or find them in Venice?
Lori says
I love how layered and tactile your process is! I have loved the class and have felt like I was right there with you through your amazing photos and videos!
Jeanne says
It is so relaxing watching you work in your travel journal. And also to see how you move things around until you find the perfect spot for them. How wonderful it was that you were able to meet up with a class-member and share a meal together.
