whooooo hoooooo loved the stories, especially the one about the latte and cake….sounds divine!!!!! I’d love having all these places to myself as well, I can do without crowds, the idea of you ambling along to the tune of your own distant drummer suits me too. The churches all sound so lovely and peaceful, in fact your entire day sounds perfect, and in the rain too. Gotta love an adventure on a rainy day.

You have Venice all to yourself! That’s awesome. Esp since I hate crowds. And the heat. So, your souvenirs….the medallions are perfect for a journal cover! You can even find some reliquary bits at St. Churches & include a bit of saint bone/eyelash/linen from their shrouds (if that doesn’t give you the willies). OT: does Venice have any flea markets? Where can you round up a real bundle of good stuff (aside from the closet, that is:))). Carry on! Xo

Sugar. I collected sugar when I was a kid, wrapped and designed…. they’ve all vanished now. Wouldn’t that be a collection? Late 60’s, early 70’s, Scottish and English sugar, cubes and packets, in wrappers. What a book they would have been!!! Alas, all gone with the wind, and the postcard collection from around the same era. I had the collect+make gene, loud and clear, waybackwhen…
Wee memories evoked by your loot-show.
Those floors. Instant Supertrance – eyes open for best prayers!!!!!
That Snack would have floored me for weeks. Glad to see you’re made of sterner stuff, still sitting if not actually standing.
Fab pics galore in next post, too. Upstairs is a novel angle.
Gnight/nite, and good day tomorrow wishes.

The church floor has such lovely designs, how on earth did you sneak a photo without some armed guards escorting you out? It’s a good thing though, because now you can use those wonderful patterns for backgrounds on your journals – shhh though, mustn’t let those armed guards see it.
I love these posts from Venice and especially your videos – they brighten my day, especially since all the visitors of yesterday left and it feels so alone here. Hubby doesn’t share our delights!

When we were in Paris this October the waiter at a pizzeria near the Sacre Couer was very concerned about my pronunciation when I ordered a coffee. He spent not a small amount of time trying to help me improve. I could not for the life of me hear the difference between what I was saying and what he was. But I continued to practice.
I’m sure by the end of your stay you’ll have “grazie” mastered, Mary Ann.
